I laid my America down for the first time today. No damage other then my brake handle knob, slightly bent foot brake and scuffed right muffler. They are bubbs and I do believe they are chrome and not stainless steel. What type paints could be used to get a durable heat resistant finish?I have access to a good sand blaster and would like to do my headers as well if its possible to get a good solid paint job. btw.I layed it down low speed practicing the figure 8 for the pa driving test.

Try "clear 4 chrome" from these guys http://www.kustomrides.com/supplies/clear4chrome.htmlYou can add pigments for any color you want. get it around 600 degrees F and its on for good. No sanding required I've also seen people use stove paint

As burtard said, stove paint works: I hand sanded a bit and used bar-b-que flat black----

You might have to re-paint every year, I got a little nick from a pebble. This is the cheap way to go. Ceramic coat lasts ....forever?

Awesome bike! What brand of pipes are those? Or are they a custom job?

The header pipes are stock, the "dumpouts" are: JC Whitney 13" turnouts 1/34" I got them on sale at half this price, these are straight through--no baffles--wait for a winter sale, if ya can.
