OK, 2 more questions.
1. From the promotion details on the manufacturer website it looks like the buyer has to buy just the 440's from their favorite supplier, mail in the form and Progressive will send them the appropriate fork springs for their bike. They should not buy both from their favorite supplier and expect Progressive or the supplier to give them a rebate/refund for the fork springs. Am I correct in my assumption?
2. Where can I find the weight limit suggestion on the Progressive site (...if more than 50% of your ride is 230+ lbs solo or 440 lbs combined...)? I've looked all over it and I'm just finding the glossy advertising jargon (440s are the "best of the best" and 412s are the best value, etc). I found the spec sheet but that doesn't have the info I'm looking for either. Do they have something that gives suggestions for weight/riding limits on each set of shocks?

Greg, you are correct you only buy the shocks, they will send the springs.
Rule on the shock application is that if you weigh less than #230 pounds the suspension in a heavy duty would be too stiff. The 440 does not come in a Heavy Duty.
The total weight rule is If you and passenger are at or more than the recommended weight of the bike (Our bike is 460 pounds) or the rider is 230 plus a heavy duty shock in the lesser models 412 or 418 would be better suited.
I can't find the spot on the website where it was listed but I got it direct from Progressive.

I can double check but last time I spoke with Progressive on the issue, tech said no, maybe things have changed since then. I just doubled checked their website and it does not show them in HD for our bikes. I will call tomorrow and find out. PS those looking at the Black 440 there as been a price change on my site to reflect a better price given me by Progressive.

Yes on Black 440's for 09
Yes on getting Heavy Duty Springs as noted by Frank but it is an after thought option where you send them into Progressive or they send you the springs and you do them yourself for a fee of $70.68 plus shipping from Progressive.
OR because they like me, there is a remote possibility they may give me special grace and do them for me up front, but I will need to confirm that.
Addendum: I just spoke with my main contact at Progressive (Beth) and she tells me that the aforementioned springs though they would work, would be too stiff and doesn't recommend them. My experience with Beth is, she KNOWS what she is talking about.

Last day for the sale. I may not be able to compete with the large discount outlets, but I am certain they will not match my customer service. I will handle all the paper work to get your free springs and they will get shipped direct from Progressive within 24 hours of your 440 purchase. No waiting to get the shocks arrive and then mail in the rebate, I will handle it all today. eddy
