Yesterday I disconnected my TPS, posted about it in that thread. Went out riding last night with DunnSpeed, and on the way home, figured I should take the highway to make sure there is no difference in power with TPS disconnected. I only have a few miles to go before my exit, so I get up to 80, then down, then up to 90ish, then back down and in the last mile and a half or so, as I go by the last entrance ramp before my exit, I get it up to about 105. I saw a couple Harley riders getting on the highway on that entrance ramp. I let my speed wind down to about 70 or so as I'm getting in the lane to exit. Then in my mirrors, I see the flashers. Dangit, I'm so busted. So I pull off to the shoulder, turn the bike off and pull out my wallet. I get my license and insurance out, now the officer is right behind me with his flashlight. "I'm officer so-and-so with the Sunset Hills police department, do you know why I stopped you?" I say Oh, I was probably going a little faster than I should have been. He asked if I knew how fast I was going and I said no, maybe about 75? The speed limit is 60, so I admit to speeding, but not to doing a tonne. He asked if I was in the left lane and then swerved across all lanes to get off, and I told him I wasn't in the left lane at all. This is where it gets interesting, now he tells me "Yeah, I didn't think it was you, it was one of those two Harley guys. I could tell it wasn't your bike when I walked up, they don't look or sound anything alike." Now me thinking quick, said, yeah, I saw those two guys getting on back there on the last ramp. Then he told me he got somebody at 98 on the radar but he thinks it's some other bike and he pulled me over by mistake! We both have a good laugh, his is apologetic and mine is of relief, but he doesn't know that. I just wonder if when I pulled away and my Scepters were singing, if maybe he thought again...

That's one of the BEST STORIES EVER!! Save that one for the grandkids (after they grow up though).

So as not to get OT can you post your TPS findings in that thread? Curious.

OMG, you are so freaking cool under fire and lucky too. Was your guardian angel on the pillion? I would have probably confessed and went to jail.

Yeah, I definitely got lucky. I'm glad it was dark and he couldn't tell. At least he was cool about it and didn't give me a ticket anyway.

Dave called me when he got home and he says, "Hey dude, guess what?" I said, "You got pulled over didn't you." He replies, "How did you know?" I just knew it. It WAS a great story and we've had a few times out there when we've gotten away with it. So far, lady luck has been good. Glad she was on your side last night again Dave!!!

That is a pretty funny story. And that's at least ten mph faster than our trip to the ARK ralley last year!

Texas LEOs are known for going after sport bikes. I've been known to make a few highspeed runs down I10 late at night and never had a problem, one night I passed 3 separate cops running radar on the side of the road... no point in slowing down, they had me if they wanted me...
