Man, thats a real drag. Why would the cush fail like that? Probably give some balance problems at speed also? Let us know if this fixes the throttle problem.
My gut feel on throttle lag - it is caused by an overly lean condition. Our carbed bikes don't have accelerator pumps and need to be a bit richer in the idle/pilot circuits. Have you richened the idle screws at all?
BTW, I see you have an 07. Isn't the bike still under warranty? Send your dealer a picture of the cush and ask them for a replacment. Can't hurt
