[image]http://http://s304.photobucket.com/albums/nn185/tonyawanamaker/[/image] i have been working on this tank for about 2 weeks on and off. i recessed the filler neck to make it flush with the tank and put a plate over the front area of the tank where the tach and dash assy. went i put 3 coats of black and 4 coats of clear and polished to finish, i cant decide if i want to use the stock fuel cap or the flush mount. i am also thinking of getting the tank pinstriped later.; -cliff

That's pretty! Did you ever consider putting the cap off center?

I really like it... super clean and it's much more reminiscent of classic Triumph than that stupid console, HD wanna-be chunk of plastic. Nice work!

Not the first, but nice nonetheless. Someday I'll get mine done.
Are you going to put indicator lights somewhere else or just go without?

When I was younger, I removed the console to make better use of the tank. The tank shape and bungs worked great as an ash tray when parked. I've since quit smoking, and have put the console back on for the time being.
And you may see me tonight

That truly looks retro! You did a great job! I am curious as to what you did with all the wiring and lights under the consol. My America also has a Tach in the council and I would love to move all of it for that look. Any advice would be welcome.

Only one of those lights is an idiot light, the oil pressure light. The rest are indicator lights.
I'm jus sayin'

Well, John actually makes a very valid point here ya know, Cliff. Only those indicator lights, such as those which sense oil-pressure and which could be replaced with a more exactingly read gauge unit, could more rightly be described as idiot lights. However, what say we split the difference here and just start callin' 'em ALL lighted idiot indicators instead from now on then, okay???!!! (and besides...the stock lighted idiot indicators on these bikes of ours are pretty darn useless in direct sunlight anyway, ya know guys)
Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

Very nice job on that tank! The dude could always buy a good quality mini speedo with idiot lights for 'bout $75 on Ebay. I think it'd look good on that bike & ya' don't need to wire 'em up if you don't want to, but since the wiring's already in place...
