I've been fiddling with a small project for a while now, and it's finally finished (sort of). Having gained a little both in hp and in torque by "blueprinting" the intake and the rubber intake coupler, it got me thinking there might be more to be had in that department. I had two of these made:

This is an actual mini copy of the drawing I gave the guy who could run a lathe. It took him ten minutes...

Then I got myself a a pair of these:

Silicone automotive hose coupler id 44mm/1.75"

And a pair of extra intakes that got the treatment (blueprinting and removal of the vaccum nipple and the four tabs)...

This last pic shows the couplers mounted and inside them are the "bushings" from pic one made out of aluminium and totally filling up the space between the carbs and the intake.

Took a couple of good rides today, both single and two-up and the SOP dyno is happy with the result. If there actually is an improvement is something only a new dyno run can tell.

I believe around 70 IIRC. If not I'll get back to you.

I'll send you a PM. My intention with this thread was to tell people about my intake project...

Nice work, Bengt! The stock intakes are a choke point in the system, opening them up and letting the motor get some more air will definitely get you more power.

Thanks Dave! I forgot to write that I've also changed the filters into "Ramair" foam pods w/o end caps and Factory Pro needles. Hopefully these changes will show not only being fun to do (they were) but actually are an improvement. Have to see the dyno doctor...

This little puppy is also on it's way since I'm not reconnecting the TPS:

I would say that if you get a noticeable increase then the work is all worth it. I know I got big gains when I got the billet intakes on my bike, mostly because of the increase in air flow after the carbs.

Off topic, but their site shows a "Breast plate". What is that and where is it? I've never even seen anything like that on our bike.

My own little intake project I used some pipe couplers frow lowes it was to soft and was pulsing to much at idel make it not idel right so I got some HEAVY duty gates rad hose for the auto parts and it doesn't pulse at all unlike the stock rubbers and it works great
