Well it's not often I can make a contribution in the Tech section. This topic has been covered before but what the heck... I wanna post this anyway.
So... I wanted a white wall tire to replace the stock Bridgestone (thank gawd that thing wore out). Researched what's out there and as many of you know there seems to be only one available, which is the Dunlop K177 120/90-18. This tire is about 1.5" taller and quite a bit fatter. The width is not a problem but the height is and I had to modify the fender mounts.
I made up a bracket which bolts to the original. Have a look at pics below.
Here's the add-on brackets I made. The holes are 1" apart.
The next 4 pics are just different views of the bracket in place.
And finally the new look.
I like the look of a beefier tire and I LOVE the handling. Took 'er out yesterday and snorted through a few mountain roads and the new tire felt great.
