For your consideration...

A pretty killer looking Indian Trike:

And a gawdawful Goldwing Quad:

I like trikes fine, but that Goldwing quad looks ridiculous.

It looks like a Can Am Spyder front end on the GW.

I actually like the Quad, but it is a hideous color. Thing I've always wondered about trikes; how do you straddle debris in the road? Seems like you lose a valuable option there - one that I come across all too frequently.

Yeah... I like trikes too. What I see here is pretty kewl, even that quad is worthy don't you think? But the old school stuff is what I got stuck in my head and I am a bit of an old school kinda guy. The age thing... you know (well, maybe you don't). But ummmm where was I going with this... oh yeah, the VW trikes. Those were hardcore, bleeding knuckles kinda rides that seemed to command respect wherever they went.

Here's kind of a nice one...

or this one which is a lot more old school.

I like the yellow one, everything but the placement of the saddlebags. But I can't really think of a better place, maybe farther back, above and next to the engine (basically straight back from where they are now).

I always wanted a VW trike and hope to build one eventually. I have a friend who rides one that was built in the late 70s with a fiberglass body. I want to cut the VW body where the doors latch and at the bottom of the rear windows leaving the rear fenders, back seat and small cargo space behind the back seat plus those seats folded down to allow more hauling room.

We had a guy staying with us a couple weeks a few years back that built a VW based trike but all he used was a new engine and transaxle he fabricated the rest. Had a single sided swing arm in the front with a car wheel on it. He had an enclosure behind him about the size of a shower stall and octagnol to keep his gear. He had copper tubing wrapped around his exhaust he pumped water through so he could shower. The guy was from the UK somewhere and was riding around the world. Last I heard he was in Mexico somewhere I think but that was some time ago now.

That's not a trike. Crap, I'm not sure WHAT that is but it has way more than 3 wheels.

May be UNCOOL, but I like the GL Quad and I have a tiny RoadTrek RV, so this RV Trike (Quintike?) kind of appeals to me.

I don't get the Star Trek stuff at all , but I guess at least 3 people do.

Ya know, I'm just looking at the handlebars on that RV quintike and the bench seat and I can't help but wonder... huh? Is that really doable? I mean in a tight corner such as maneuvering around a parking can it really be done? Can the rider(?) actually reach far enough to keep both hands on the bars in a tight turn? Maybe has to stand up... or just plain give up?

"Aaaah forget it honey, there's no way I can get into this here Walmart parking lot... just too many other RVs to try to get around. We'll have to park in the church parking lot across the street... there's no one else there!"

We met a couple of VW trikes with those same type bars at a fuel stop once. They would shift hands, grab the left bar with their right hand and vice-versa.

Here are a few from tonight's Lansdale Bike Night event in the Philly suburbs:

F-14 fighter trike:

Bad@$$ looking trike:

Sportster trike (I guess this is the definition of 'training wheels' on a motorcycle...)

This one is really cool:

Mini-trike:

And then there's this - although I don't think I'd take it on the highway...

That white (not-aviation themed) trike is PHAT. Should be VW powered but it looks like they have a transverse mounted V-twin back there.

Dude, I've had craps bigger than that thing.

Maybe I should just say F it and get a nice Harley. They're far less reliable but so many more places exist around here to get them fixed...

That Victory is the second-ugliest production motorcycle on the planet today (in both the 2 and 3 wheeled incarnations.) (First ugliest being the Goldwing.)

I think the Vision may actually be uglier than the Goldwing

I saw one of the Boss Hoss 57 Chevy trikes yesterday. I kinda liked it. It also has a huge trunk, not to mention a mother of an engine.

Don't worry Rich. You've got backup here, dude! I think with its massiveness and basic design(which some might argue is over-styled to begin with), the Victory Vision is actually better suited to being a trike than a motorcycle, and looks better than any another three-wheeled motorcycle conversion I've seen to date.

Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

Saw an odd one today. Wish I could have got a pic, but I was sitting at a light when I saw the trike. From the front I thought it was a VW trike, but the back half was a pontiac fiero just chopped off at the doors with a gas tank in the rear window. Odd.

I miss seeing all those home-jobber trikes from the 70' & 80's. Wouldn't want to ride one, but they were creative (in a "lookee here what I welded up, Vern" kind of way).
