I have a 2005 America that started running real rough on my way to work. Had to trailer it home. Had similar symptoms wiht a Buell Blast that ended up being a crack in the rubber coupler between the carb and manifold. This seems like the same thing but I don't know where to start looking. Can anyone help.

We need a bit more info: - have you been riding it regularly with no issues? (ie - miles, etc) - have the carbs been fiddled with?

I'm the second owner. Bought it in 2007 with 4500 miles on it. Now has 17000. Until now I never had an issue. This problem come on suddenly. One second it was fine the next it was missing and I could hardly make it the last mile to work. Could it be electrical....coils? It will still start OK but starts missing and running poorly after a few seconds. I'm new to motorcycling so this is all foreign to me.
I've never touched the carbs.

Loosen the fuelcap so it can suck some air, and start it up. If it runs fine its the tip over valve. I took my one off and threw it away. Plenty of posts on this.

My bike and others here had this problem... the electrical connection going to the coil(s) works loose. When this happened to mine the bike suddenly coughed and choked so bad I couldn't ride it. So... these connections are under the tank but you can access them by contorting your body enough to be able to look up under the tank. The coils are right there, one on each side. Now look for loose connectors and if needed, re-seat them. Hopefully....vroooooom and away you go.

I checked the connectors and they're OK. The bike sat for a few day, I started it up and it ran OK for a minute or 2 then started running rough and died.

Mine sat for 2 weeks after I got it. It did the same as yours. I had a mouse house in the air box. Good Luck.
