I have a 2008 America. About 2 months ago I noticed what appeared to be oil seeping out of the top hose at the top crimp on the left side of the oil cooler (sitting on the bike). Took it to the dealer and they agreed it was oil. It looked and felt oily. They replaced the braided hose and cruch washers.
Just got back from a 1800 mile trip and while cleaning the bike I noticed what at first looked like the same stuff seeping out of the same crimp hose connection, however this time it doesnt feel oily. It seems like a very fine powder. Took a little dab and it doesnt taste like oil, actually no taste at all. Kind of feels like brake dust but how could brake dust get up there? Noticed it just very slightly on the inside of the other top hose also.
The bike is still under warrenty so could have the dealer look at it again but I am now beginning to think it isnt a leak.
I have pictures that I could e-mail, but I have not yet been able to put pictures here.
