From the thread title I thought you needed somewhere to hide your stash!!

Let's see here... ya lost your mp3 player and now you need something to keep your pot waterproof. Okay... how about a ziploc?

As it happens my car (toyota) came with a lidded ashtray that fits into the car's cup holder. Nope, I just looked and it's much too wide to fit in the tach hole.
The bib wouldn't be waterproof of course and tankbags aren't usually. You probably need a waterproof container for the player and stick it in the tankbag or similar - maybe mountainman's ziploc.

Sounds like what you need is some sort of bluetooth receiver plugged into the intercom mp3 input, and a bluetooth enabled cellphone that'll play mp3's. Don't know if such a thing exists but it's possible. Talk to some car sound experts.

without wanting to be controversial.... I put my ipod in the inside pocket of my jacket. no need for any cable to be seen, not need for worrying about waterproofing a holder.

Three places: Next to the starcom unit Being adjacent or on top of the starcom will require no cable run. In your pocket requires a cable from the starcom location to your pocket. Very awkward. Being as how you have a cable from the starcom to your ears already. On the bike elsewhere (other than with the starcom) requires minor cable routing.
piggy back it with the starcom unit. Any water issues you think you’ll have with piggy backing it with the starcom unit, you already have with the starcom’s current location.

+1 Plus you can get this little doo dad for your I-pod so you can keep it tucked away and still operate it. http://www.cyclegadgets.com/Products/product.asp?Item=IJET

Nice product. Cycle Gadgets is in Eureka Springs, Arkansas. The AK Rally attendees can ride there and not have to pay shipping.

sadly i am a poor person and cant the the luxury of an ipod i have a standard small mp3 player, the point is on the starcom there is a socket for the mp3 to go into so i want a perminant fixture so end of lead would stay in there and i could just plug in my player and put it in pot it is small enough. the advantage for me is if i connect the correct way through the starcom when i talk to my lad on back it kills music so he can hear me clear etc
