Well, she's been off the road for a very long time as money and time have dictated, but she's almost there. Some pictures.
Just picked up the pipes from Maryland Performance Coatings, $190 for ceramic on the headers and pipes. Spendy, but a good price for the process. Have my new derby cover that matches the paint to put on, but saving that for last. Just dropped off the fake oil tank/battery box. Going to be painted black for now. May add a design later. Finally, trying to figure out if I want anything embossed on the seat.
I won't be running turn signals and some run ins with cagers lately have me thinking of adding a ballpene hammer, but some one pointed out a toy squirt gun with a bit of paint thinner is a good compromise.
Crappy cell phone pics. Let me know what you think.

They are indeed round ones. The wheels are Ride Wrights. The BSA is a really sweet 66. The shop is Mobtown here in Baltimore. Good bunch of guys.

Hey ya Jim! Even through those not-so-good-cellphone pics one can see that is a pretty cool ride ya got going there. I really want to know about the inspiration behind that paintjob. Can you fill us in?

Congrats. Very unusual paint job, really striking. Good on you - makes a refreshing change from flames.

My best friend is a tattoo artist. First tattoo I got was of a killer whale, many many years ago. Chuck drew it when we were kids before he was tattooing. Most recent finished tattoo was of the sun. All of it Haida indian style. He did the design (mostly) for the bike, and it;s a mix of those 2 tattoos.
Thanks for asking, Mountain Man

I forgot to say I think it's a cool ride too. I would like to know more about those wheels. What are they sold to fit normally and what had to be done to make them fit our bikes. That would go a long way to helping me and others look for wheels if we want to change to a different wheel. What discs were used? What sprocket? I like the paint too, different and that's cool.

Aaaaahh okay, I was kinda wondering 'bout that. I have lived in and now live close to the Pacific Rim which is where the Haida are from. In Coastal regions especially, there is a strong cultural influence which is reflected in the art one sees out there. For example, the Vancouver International Airport is home to some of the most impressive pieces around. I've had a very long interest in Haida art and the meanings behind it. Very nice.

The wheels are for a late model sportster as is the rear sprocket and the rotors. The front sprocket was an issue as Harley and Triumph use a different gauge. Mobtown got a blank sprocket of the same guage and cut a 19 tooth front sprocket to match. Had to cut the speedo tab off of the front forks to run the wheel, so no speedometer. Honestly, I'm not doing much of the work myself. It's at the shop. I had the bike at another shop that went out of business. One of the mechanics called me and told me I should come get my stuff before the place was foreclosed. Quite a scene. They really didn't know what the heck they were doing and a lot of the parts they got didn't fit and they "lost" a lot of my stock parts. That's kind of how I got the wheels. They "lost" my stock wheels, so this was the compromise that kept the courts out of it. Mobtown has been great. If you are in the area, I highly recommend. Totally up front guys, totally honest and quite reasonable. They took a pretty messed up project and got it back together at a price I can afford (barely, but good enough). Also, Jeff the guy who works on British bikes there has fallen in love with Speedmasters and Amercas. He's looking for a wrecked one for himself. http://www.mobtowncycle.com/Mobtown/Home.html

Yeah, I was kinda iffy on leaving black. THe white came together nicely though. It really looks good in person and looks great sitting in the shop amongst 50 black bikes.

An electronic speedo with a magnetic pick up would solve the speedo issue. As I said in another thread , if my memory serves the Sportster uses a 530 chain. If that is the case, and I'm not 100% sure but about 90% sure, then you could have used the Honda front sprocket that fits our bikes. Those are for a 530 chain.

I remember seeing those Mobtown bikes at the Greaseball last year. Pretty cool stuff. That's coming up soon I assume, hope to see your bike there in person! (if you know the date/link, post it pls) Quote:
