My 09 won't start Speedmaster. When hit the starter it just clicks and nothing happens. In a few seconds the fuel pump (or whatever it is) primes again but the same thing happens when i hit the starter. I only have about 2400 miles on it and it's still under warranty but still. Any one have any ideas before I take it in?

Sounds like a bad battery connection. Check the posts and the ground to frame as well as the connections at the solenoid.

Just poking around the battery (hadn't even got the cover off yet) and I found a plug that was loose. I haven't found what it is suppose to be plugged into yet. It's right beside the battery. Hopefully this is my only problem and it won't be to hard to find the other piece.
I'm not mechanically inclined in the least and know next to nothing about about motorcycles. I guess I'm about to learn. I need a triumph motorcycle for Dummies book.

Ok, I put a charger on it for about 2 minutes and it started right up. The bike was bought new in Nov. I can't believe the battery is bad already. I never did find what that loose plug was supposed to go to.

If the plug is a two wire type, it is probably the power supply for the optional accessory outlet which goes in the hole in the top rear engine mount.
Put a voltmeter across the battery with the engine running. It should read over 13.5 volts. Did you check your battery connections like Ian said?

Be sure to check those connections because a bad connection will prevent the battery from charging back up. It is possible to get a bad battery right out of the box so just because the bike is new doesn't rule out the battery. I would make sure all connections are clean and tight before I suspect the battery though. Also as Gregger says test to be sure you are getting enough juice to charge it when the bike is running. If not then again check all the connections that make that circuit work.

Thanks for the heads up in the plug. That sounds like what it is. I checked out the battery and all the connections are tight and no corrosion. I don't have a volt meter. Will a place like Autozone be able to check it?

Re: the plug - it could be for a battery trickle charger / battery minder. My '09 Speedmaster came with the plug already installed.

I bought my 09 America back in November also. Mine would occasionally not start. I would put it on the charger overnight and it still would not hold the charge. I too checked all connections and finally ended up taking it back to the dealer. It was determined that the battery had a bad cell in it and after replacement have had no problems at all.
