OK, got my extra console in the mail... haven't look at innards in a while. Replacement I make if stamped sheet metal will definitely have to simplify the shape. I'll also check on casting, but not likely.
By the way, anyone know any specific purpose for the two different rubber-filled openings for switches/buttons/lights? My dealer didn't know of any specific option to install there. I have a signal light controller addon (running lights, auto-off) with a switch I will try to use one of those for... but why were they put there to begin with?
I'll probably leave them out in my new console version. I think the new design for manufacturing "ease" will be more "sleek" and smooth without all the raised edges around each opening, added lips and plateaus removed as much as possible (except mounting screw holes).
