And it really cant fit too flush cause it'll rub the paint. You could maybe get the fit tolerance a little closer, but touching wouldnt be good.
One of the earlier mods I have not seen or heard of in a while, was to take a strip of Door Edge Guard, usually black vinyl , or rubber, and available at WalMart or any parts store for about $3.00/pair, trim it to length, and fit it around the bottom edge of the dash console. It takes up some of that gap, looks natural, like it belongs there, and after 5 years of hard riding, my original mod is holding up great. And it's cheap!
