Humm, I guess my bike qualify as a custom?
Anyway, I had a set of fork shrouds powder coated and Chy installed them for me, I LOVE IT!

Today, Chy also installed rear Progressive shocks and front Progressive springs. No matter how crap my life might be right now this machine always manages to put a smile in my face.

I have been meaning to polish a set of shrouds but maybe I'll powder coat instead.

Looks Awesome!
A set of rear shocks with the look of the Black and Silver Hagon Classics would help set off the look of those. I spoke with Progressive a while back and if you sent in a set of their full cover shocks they could set up the cans with Black tops and chrome bottoms... I mention that because I know some have had performance issues with the Hagons.

Your ride does look pretty sweet with the black shrouds. Nice looking.

Looking great! Now here's a suggestion. Why don't you go ahead and powder coat the headlamp bucket as well?

Very nice, that looks like it was always meant to be! And, Piper also has a good idea there...

Me, I'd leave the lowers alone and just pull the reflectors. They make a nice transition pulling those lovely wheels into the rest of the bike.

Thanks guys! I was thinking on powder coating the rim of the headlight, not the bucket but it does look cool, maybe by winter I'll decide. I'm also gonna remove the reflectors.

What I would like to do next is the seat and find a really cool metal snake, needs to look similar to a Black Mamba, for the plastic side cover, I've been looking for over 6 months and haven't found anything that's worth the try.

Looking good! Need to move the blinkies of the bars, that really cleans things up. And like oldroadie said, can the reflectors.

Those reflectors were the first thing I pulled off my bike about 1 1/2 minutes after I got it home.

Looks nice. I think the bucket is a good idea, the ring not so much.

Has anyone just painted the bucket with spray enamel paint or the foreman grill rather than powdercoat?

I used Rust-o-leum hammered finish on the grill, peg holders and a few other bits. My America is silver/graphite so I went with a dark, dark grey (almost black). Not as permanent as powder coat, but less than $5 and easy to touch up if needed. I wouldn't try this on chrome though.

Hey thanks guys, for those of you interested, the powder coating job cost 68 bucks but I paid them what they quoted me to begin with, 75 just because they paid for shipping it back and and well, a deal is a deal. http://www.armorpowdercoating.net/

The bucket idea is growing on me, perhaps I'll do it as a winter job and yep the reflectors are coming out this weekend I always wanted to get rid of them, I just never got around to it lol

I wonder if that would look as good in the Pacific Blue (my scoot)? Looks great in black, but can't visualize the blue. One other thing, I agree the reflector has to go, but was thinking that a white circular reflector on the axle cap would give the reflectivity and side visual without taking away form the looks. Cap would be same size as the axle cap. Just a thought.

You could go to any bicycle shop and get those reflecters that clamp onto the spokes and go round & round.

Imagine my delight at finding this post as I currently have a pair of fork shrouds at a local body shop in order to have them painted black. This shop and other local shops are quoting in the $300 to $400 range and I have been greatly put off by this high price tag. I am also having trouble paint matching my Phantom Black 2007 America. What color did you use for your powder coating with Armor and how did you arrive at your selection? Does it have the gold metalflake of "Phantom Black" or is it a straight black powdercoat? Your price for powder coating with Armor is right up my alley but I need to know what black color to use to match my 2007 America. Any help and the subsequent savings would be greatly appreciated.

I just selected gloss black, as I don't think you can do the metal flakes that Phantom Black has unless you use paint instead of powder coat. IMHO it is a good compromise tho. Maybe you can look at color chips and decide. How did I arrive there? I asked another member here if he remember if he used gloss black or mirror black

Am thinking of doing the same - after I pick up my bike next friday - not too keen on the stock metal colour of the shrounds, am thinking about powder coat base then painting over with the factory phantom black - IVC (manufacturer) code L5029.
