there is a lot of Harley bashing going on here but the Harley riders bring it on themselves, thier arrogant pompous attitudes regarding their "real bikes" are what elicit all the disdain,it's not the bikes i don't like but the people on them.
I have had some really good friends who rode HD but for the most part I agree. Those friends didn't care what you rode and could appreciate other bikes.
i'm with you on that.the two people i ride with the most are both HD riders and they both appreciate my speedie,as well as other bikes like the Raider and the Warrior.i hate to go here but most "real motorcycle riders",the ones that ride every chance they get, rain, shine or other wise, and who actually turn wrenches, work on their own bikes and know every inch of it in my expierience are rarely ever arrogant and appreciate all brands even if they wouldn't own somethimg other than what they have.it's the RUBS and the image/ego guys that perpetuate the problem

I am in that group. I was hesitant to buy my EFI Speedmaster, until I discovered it had been released a year earlier in the UK.

The bikers that have complimented my bike the most have been HD riders. Occasionally a sport bike rider has told me "if" I owned a cruiser, it would be something definitely more like that than a Harley or V-Twin.

Harley people will never consider it. Motorcycle people that ride Harleys might.
Most of the people that ride with would not consider it because the Triumph just isn't big and bulky enough.
The Victory Vision is just icky lookin'.

How many people bought Bonneville Americas in 2002 instead of Sportsters?................ I would've bought a BMW 1200C before a Harley.
Isn't that a sad state for Harley, when somebody says they prefer a 1200C over a Harley? God what an ugly bike that is! I like beemers too, but 1200C? No way.
I personally think the T-bird will bring in guys and gals that realy don't want a Harley wannabe, or a Harley. T-bird fits the bill. I wish it didn't have that low profile rear tire though.

I was much more comfortable sitting on a 1200C than a Dyna or Sportster. Seat sucked. Controls sucked. Air cleaner blocked the rear brake lever for my stubby legs. You may not like the design, but the 1200C was better in almost every way (just sitting there--I didn't ride either of them at the time--it was early Spring and there were still patches of snow and ice on the roads).

I was at the Baxter Cycle Rally in Marne, Iowa sunday. The Triumph factory truck was there, most of the crowd were HD riders. The HD riders were lined up to demo the T-Bird. Easedropping and in conversions they were very impressed.
As a side note, if ever any of you travel even remotely near Baxter Cycle stop in. You will be in Brit iron heaven.

We see LOTS of H-d riders at the open house events. Well over 75. Most of them ride the Triumph bikes-most say 'wow, great bike. I didn't have any idea". And they never buy them. I'll ask the ones I can ask why and they always say the same thing. Does not matter to them if they are better, worse, or whatever. They are not Hogs and that's that. They lose!

Most people who have been riding Harleys for years, like my self (35 years), will not give the T-Bird a second look. Because of the fuel injection, and all the modern eletronics. We like to do our own work, no one has ever touched a wrench to one of my bikes, but me. My 04 America is still pretty simple. I am still finding ways to rip out un-needed wireing and safty BS. So for this reason if no other, the older ones like me, don't want something we can't work on (and it don't have to be broke to change it). I don't know about these fashion show Harley owners out there, most of them don't know a spark plug from a rocker box anyway. To them its about playing biker 25 miles a month. But I do know that the people that I ride with think my America is the greatest thing ever. Some even go so far as to get mad when I show up on the softail. They seem to enjoy showing off "the new Triumph" to anyone we come across.

A Canadian review: http://www.wheels.ca/newsFeatures/article/781638This part caught my eye and is apropos to this thread (bolding by me): "The Thunderbird raises the bar for big cruisers in acceleration, braking and especially handling. If potential customers can wrap their heads around the concept that cruisers don't necessarily have to be V-twin-powered, they'll like Triumph's Thunderbird."

could be worst... in Poland it has to be a v-twin with shaft drive!!!

You're definitely in the minority. Everyone who has seen these bikes in person wants one. At a demo event this weekend people were swarming these bikes to get a feel for them. Including the fellow that bought my 05 Speedmaster.

Nope, I didn't like it either. I really don't care for the motor, or the styling. I rode the Vision, and really was impressed, but the styling, again, Nope, for the cost. I'd stick with a Honda, or a Yamaha, or a Suzuki, or even a Harley.
