OK then, I'm reaching the point were the stock pipes are NOT loud enough on the 09. OK I reached that point about 5 seconds after riding away from the dealer. But money is the issue.

So I have 2 questions.

It's an efi bike. Can I get some carb bike pipes? Or do I have to get ones that are specifically for efi bikes?

Which pipes can people recommend. I'm looking for not too expensive and not too loud. Louder than stock, but not gonna wake the neighbours at 4am when I finish work. About the same as a baffle or 2 drilled out. Remember the choice will depend on if they can be put on an efi or not.
It'll give me something (else) to work overtime for...

Didn't Ray put the pipes from his old (carb) bike on his newey?

Don't see why not.

The slip on part you want to replace should be behind the catylytic convertor and 02 sensor, shouldn't be an issue.

Gina, I've got pipes from chevy605 (on this forum) that are not EFI pipes, on my EFI '09. The are a bit louder than TORs, but not obnoxious. And they do not need re-mapping. The shipping would be a lot, but you might want to contact him and see what he does to them, then have someone local do the same.

The sound reminds me of the '69 Bonnie I had way back when, but I thought that might be just me and a faulty memory (age!) but I met a local rider with a '67 and the bikes sound very similar.

Just a thought.

You kinda described the short TORs although they are a bit dear. Of course you'd have to check with the dealer but I don't imagine you'd have to remap.

The TORs, both short & long, require a re-map on the EFI bikes,, available at a dealer.

So if I was to buy a pair of stock slash cuts and remove the last 2 baffles, and a re-map, that'll be ok?

There's a pair of stock slash cuts on ebay for £40... that i'd de-baffle. I've contacted the seller, and they finish tomorrow. we'll see...

Gina, contact Don Shigekawa (chevy605) (I'll PM you his email addy) and ask him if he'll tell you what exactly he does when he debaffles the stock pipes. I'm sure you could do the same. If you win the auction, and do the same debaffle, you'd be happy with the sound. What you will get is popping during deceleration. Removing the AI will eliminate that.

I'm going to write up my experience in another thread, you might want to check it out.

Just curious, did you win the auction?

The rear most baffle will be coming out tomorrow...

Cool. No more sewing machine!! Are you getting deceleration popping? If so, remove the AI.

I like the sound of mine enough that it will be what I aim for when I get my 2nd bike, a Bonneville.
