By all means, change the oil, filter and brake fluid. That way you will have a known starting point for the future.
Check the little rubber caps on the intake manifolds, the slightest crack will cause it to run badly.
Put aside money for a new battery if the bike still has the original because 5 to 7 years is the most you can hope to get from them.
