Use your turn signals, but don't trust others will see or even care about them.
Do NOT trust car drivers to use their own signals or to think they see you. In fact, pretend you are invisible at all times - to EVERYONE.
Before you get on your bike, remind yourself that "Someone out there will try to kill me today. I just don't know who it is, when it will happen, or even if it won't be myself."
Don't let your confidence overtake your competence.
Your bike is six years old. Get your oil and especially brake fluids changed, and check your tires regularly.
