Has anyone tried some orange citrus cleaner to clean a bike chain? I use it to degrease other stuff and clean my chainsaw blade. It takes grease and sap right off. The stuff I have is called Blast orange degreaser. It says it's safe on rubber parts, engines, tools, plastic and paint. I'm looking for a cleaner, safer alternative to Kerosene.

I've used it to clean the chain lube off my rear wheel, works great, never thought to use it on the chain. Let us know how it works if you try it the chain before I do.

I have been using orange degreaser on my chain and rim from the beginning. Same stuff I used on my bicycle chains. Does a good job.

I've heard good things about citrus degreaser from the bicycling world too. Where can you get it in a big size?

What's a chain? Not only does my belt keep my pants up......
A word to the wise is not necessary. It is the stupid ones who need the advice.

Speaking of which, have you ever gotten some kind of solvent under your belt or watchband? Burns your skin after a while.

Benny,
I got a huge bottle of Blast orange degreaser at Walmart. I think it was around $4.00. It was in the car care section.

Always a comment from the peanut gallery. Why don't you start a thread on "What's the best oil".

Thanks Ron, I'll check it out. My mountain bike could use a good cleaning too! I use simple-orange hand cleaner, and it works wonders!
