Bruce Rossmeyer died today. He knew selling just Harleys wasn't just enough. He brought our beloved Triumph as well Ducati, Arlen Ness etc. I never met him. But friends who did said he was a motorcyclist, not just a Harley guy. He will be greatly missed. Probly teaching GOD and everyone else how to ride a bike, or selling them one.

Sad day indeed, though it appears it was his fault. When a cage signals that it is going to turn left, better to let it go.
He gave a ton of money and support to local charities, but he should also be remembered for how he made his money in the first place, which is, well, not that great....

"...The highway patrol report states that Rossmeyer was not wearing a helmet and that VanValkenburg’s truck and camper turn signals and brake lights were working at the time of the crash..."
Quoted from the update on the above blog link. Yes, turn signal and brake lights were working, but were they on at the time???
I'll bet Rossmeyer thought he was just passing a slow moving vehicle.

Apparently he fell victim to "comtempt of cage." Or a massive case of denial.

According to the paper turn signal was on before anyone took off to pass. They were all guilty, And 1 didn't make it.

Oh the irony.
6 motorcycle officers crash in funeral procession
ORMOND BEACH, Fla. -- Authorities say six motorcycle officers were involved in a crash while escorting the family of one of the country's largest Harley-Davidson dealers to his funeral.
A Florida Highway Patrol spokeswoman says a group of motorcycle officers from various agencies was riding with the funeral party for Bruce Rossmeyer Tuesday morning in Ormond Beach. The spokeswoman says the lead rider slowed down, while the riders near the back of the group didn't, causing a chain-reaction crash.
Authorities say two officers were hurt, but their injuries weren't serious. Damage to the motorcycles was also reported as minor.
Rossmeyer died in a motorcycle crash last week in Wyoming. The 66-year-old had owned more than a dozen Harley-Davidson dealerships, most located in Florida.

My thoughts exactly, Rossmeyer was at fault but as a rule if 4 riders pass I'm lookin' for more.

Rumor has it that he made his fortune the illegal way and spent some time behind bars for it.

I was in Sturgis (Elkview Campground) when my girl friend (Bobbie) called and informed me that Bruce had died riding to Sturgis. Destination Daytona had a large tent in downtown Sturgis with about 100 bikes for sale. So I guess he did a lot of business during Sturgis bikeweek.
Bobbie had meet Bruce several times. She was an on-air radio personality for a Country radio station in Daytona, and once in a while the station would do promotions at Destination Daytona.
Not the best way to go, but he was doing something that he loved. My he rest in peace.

"Bruce Rossmeyer, one of New Jersey’s largest automobile dealers, faced forfeiture of his multimillion dollar automobile dealership based on an indictment charging him as a member of a cocaine distribution conspiracy. After a two-month jury trial before Judge Ann Thompson and a jury in the District of New Jersey, the prosecution requested a mistrial when the jury commenced acquitting various co-defendants. The prosecution subsequently dismissed the felony conspiracy charge, thereby foregoing any forfeiture claim and Mr. Rossmeyer pled guilty to a simple misdemeanor possession charge -- a plea he had offered at the inception of the case.
