Can I simply remove the airbox and put on K&N pods? or do I have to install the FREAK? I like the "see through" look with the battery moved.

I have exactly the same setup. Take the fender off, it will make it easier. You will also need the carb brace or you can make one. The only problem I had was the clamps that came with the filters. I had to buy my own to keep them on.

What is the rejet? Is that a different name for something else? Can you point out which part it is on this diagram?

You'll have a huge hole on the right side. Do a search on "Ghetto Freak." Or wait for Brokenfixed to chime in about his battery relocation brackets.

I want that look. I like the open look with the battery relocated. I dont mind removing the covers.

Well, you can roll your own or buy a set of brackets from BrokenFixed. I think he posted in the Vendors forum.

Rejet is opening the carbs and putting the right jets in for the extra air introduced by opening up the intake. The size depends on the intake filtration , the exhaust used, and you elevation.

Here's your rejet.

You'll also have to make up a fender extension to cover all the
way to the swingarm.

The extension is really not necessary, the battery bracket catches what ever is flung, which is very minimal.

Apparently he's too busy messing with me to address the original question and maybe do a little business. I hope you get a commission, Ian.

Thats what I did...cut the thing out. But that was because my bike was lowered and I didnt have a jack. I did nick my frame here and there though....the fenders really not that hard to take off...its only 8 bolts

I took my fender off to get the airbox out, but I WAS painting the fender at the time. My ugly homemade battery box has held up better than anything else I've done to the bike.

What is everyone's opinion on whether the Freak or just the home made version looks better once complete?

I probably would've bought the Freak had I not built my battery box before the Freak was available. If I had it to do all over again, I'd just put a K&N filter in the stock airbox, pull/modify the snorkel, pull out those other restrictive bits, and maybe drill a couple holes in the bottom of the airbox under the filter. Rejet, aftermarket pipes and ride the pee out of it. I don't know that the gains between that and the Freak are worth the cost, but you do get that handy-dandy storage space under the seat.

I would like to see other pics of brokenfixed's battery relocation set-up from the sides and such.

What say you?

Personally I like both looks, if I had another bike I would do one of each but I want to keep the side covers and cheese graters on mine. I bought the Freak but after getting it I wish I had made the brackets myself, they are fairly simple.
