I've been off work for quite a while now (tax reported work anyway), and I got a call today about some a job which may turn into a full time position. Turns out they did a little back checking on me and my work experience and history and got good reports, so now I get a chance to earn a spot. It's been too long since I had steady employment, so I'm plenty excited to even get an open door. Hopefully it all works out and I'm not too rusty, but I think I'll be fine.

The only downside is that regular work really cuts into your riding time...but...regular pay sure puts a lot of bling on baby  Good luck and I wish you much success.

Thanks, all! John, no I shouldn't miss it, having a job would actually help me get there.  I should get a call today to see if the contract for the job was approved and then start tomorrow.  Now I have to go get busy on one of my cash jobs, which is behind because of permits not getting approved by the city.

I went in to fill out all the forms and paperwork today, looks like I'm starting tomorrow at 7am, then off on Thursday, and working every day after that. Since the pay period starts in the middle of the week, next Friday I'll be getting a 4 day check! That's going to be a big help since I haven't had one since the first week of April. Hopefully they have all the work they keep talking about and there will actually be a full time position out of it. I'll be installing doors, frames, and hardware, which luckily for me, has been my specialty for the last 6-7 years. Thanks again for all the well wishes, I hope all that are out of work find something soon.

Funny story here, today was my first day back, so they tell me I"m working today, and the superintendent wanted to push back the frame setting until Monday. So I'll only be working today. No biggie, I still have my side work. But then I get a call from another company I worked with for a couple years and they say they need a guy for Thursday and Friday to do some door hardware and maybe a couple other things like fire blocking and whatever, so I say I'm available and now I'm still working for the rest of the week and maybe Saturday for overtime and then the other jobs starts on Monday and everything is good! Maybe my luck has really turned around and I'll have a good run for a long time. By the way, I welded door frames all day today in some weird positions and my knee is killing me! I'm gonna sleep good tonight!
