i want to take a trip the second week of august.. Not sure where i want to go just yet...Im kinda looking for suggestions... Right now i am looking at the dragon in N.C. its a 6-7 hour trip from vincennes, in. prolly do that one day...ride the dragon the next...then stay the night and leave again the next day...then i was thinking about heading over towards the ozark area to see what kind of land sculpting is in that area and its many lakes.. ride a day stay a day and then ride back towards home...maybe making that in 2 days.... anyone have any suggestion of maybe other places i should be looking?

If you are going to the dragon and then heading west, let me recommend U.S. 64 across the bottom of TN to Memphis. You can visit Mr. Daniels in Lynchburg and even stop in at the Buford Pusser (Walking Tall) home and museum along that way. Memphis is full of cool stuff to see and hear. Cross the river and up 55 a couple of miles you can pick up 64 again in AR. and take it all the way to 7 North which is a nice run up into the Ozarks.

Just sayin...

Thom I might be wrong, I sometimes am.

dude...you're in the middle of the country. 1 week will get you anywhere and you'll still have plenty of time to make it back home.

I'd find that to be the problem ... too much choice!!

Steve,

Yes it is amazing where you can end up.

What you described is my normal method of route planning.

Before the war on terror, if I saw an unattended package I used to think "I'll be having that!"

A fun ride that encompasses US 421 (The Snake), Blue Ridge Parkway, Smokey Mountains, Hellbender (NC28), The Dragon (Deal's Gap US129) and the Cherohala Skyway.

Dude! That looks like an awesome trip!
