I was at the dealer today looking at the new T-Bird. On the way out, I saw a beautiful used (13K miles) 2004 BMW K1200RS for sale. It has EVERYTHING - bags, GPS, custom gel seat with ostrich leather, BMW performance chip, 2-brothers pipes, new back tire, ABS brakes, self cancelling turn signals, heated grips, cruise control, recent full service, etc. The dealer is selling on behalf of the buyer on consignment for $9300 + change.
I took the bike on an extended road test, and it was amazing (after I got used to the very different posture).
I've searched the web for similar bikes, and ones with more miles are even more money than this one. Trouble is that the dealer is offering $2500 for my 2003 Speedy with 9K miles, and I think that's a bit low, but I hate the hassle of selling myself. The other downside is that the insurance would almost triple to $753.00 a year, because the Bimmer is considered a high performance bike, which I have to agree with, having ridden the thing...
Some of you have seen my Speedy at last year's Ozark meet, and you know how well my own bike is outfitted and cared for.
Any thoughts on whether I should pull the trigger on this deal and bid bye bye to my Speedy?
Keeping both bikes is not an option, because I just don't have room for both of them in the garage?
