I can't really help with the other problems, but I can tell you about the pink petrol. I've resealed the tank on the old git bike, and that has pink petrol too. It did say in the instructions that came with mine that it probably would happen.

I do think however if you're running with the cap open then it's not a venting issue. (I had problems with the 06 and ran with the cap cracked all the time.) But beyond that, I'm no real help.
