Just a note on painting chrome. I didn't post anything on the original site, but now it came to me. I don't know what this painter did to make the paint stick to the chrome, but here was my solution. When I built my old trumpet, I wanted the center of the rims painted to match my paint, like they had on some bikes in the late 50s. I taped the rims off, and sandblasted the part I wanted painted. This left the chrome area dull, but smooth. I painted the sandblasted area red, and 13 years later, the paint is still sticking fine!
