Got the Triumph Summer Screen for my 2009 Speedie but I can't seem to install it easily. The turn signal lamps are in the way and I can't seem to force the hardware enough to get the proper screws in place. The larger roadster screen has a cutout that accommodates the signal lamps but the smaller summer screens don't. Any tips on how others have installed theirs??

Not sure why your turn signal lights are in the way. The cutaway you refer to on the roadster is to accommodate a lightbar. The turn signal lights up on the bars are nowhere near the windscreen.

On my 08 America there is no clearance problems at all. Have your turn signal lights been relocated?

I found it easier to put the mounting hardware on the bike, leaving all bolts loose, then fitting the screen. The top mounting bolts are kind of a chore to get lined up, I used a nut driver to get them started.

After doing it a couple of times it is a 15 min. job.

I just took mine off and put back on. The bottom brackets should be mounted pretty much flush with the front of the tree and almost straight out. Snug these down and hold the shield up to them to make sure they are right. If ok, tighten and recheck.

The top arms need to be installed and not made tight. You can approximate by measuring the straight distance between holes in the shield and put arms that distance apart. You also need to measure back from each arm to the handlebar to make sure they are straight. Adjust with them fairly snug holding the shield up until it looks like it will fit right on, snug the arms a little tighter (not final yet) and recheck. If still good, tighten them and install the screen with the 4 screws.

I've found this much easier than trying to tighten the arms with the screen on.

I brought this to the Triumph dealer and they seem to have the same problem as I had. The kit shows America but I assume that the summer screen for America is the same as for Speedie. They are going to try and contact Triumph.

I'll try the suggestions above and hopefully I just went at it the wrong way.

Thanks for all the tips.

Thanks to all for your help and suggestions.

I finally figured it out today. Swapped the upright stalks around and guess what. It fit perfectly. These are the stalks labeled (L) Left and (R) Right. Somehow Right is when you're facing the bike, not when you're riding it. This made all the difference. As soon as I switched it, the screen just sat in place. Not sure if the labeling was done wrong at the factory, but it's on now.

The kit came with turn lights relocator which I used to swing the lights out and it also came with a rubber trim that goes around the perimeter of the glass (not sure if I want to use this, but with or without, it looks nice).

Can't wait to try this on the freeway. Quick question: will the 865 feel laboured at a continuous speed of 120km/h??

Phantom, So you did have to use the signal relocation brackets right? I guess the difference is the handle bar width between the America and Speedmaster. America signals are farther out and don't need to be relocated?

Yes, I used the relocation brackets. That was after I've installed the windshield. The signals were half behind the screen and half out. With the relocation brackets, they're now both out.
