Thanks to all for your help and suggestions.
I finally figured it out today. Swapped the upright stalks around and guess what. It fit perfectly. These are the stalks labeled (L) Left and (R) Right. Somehow Right is when you're facing the bike, not when you're riding it. This made all the difference. As soon as I switched it, the screen just sat in place. Not sure if the labeling was done wrong at the factory, but it's on now.
The kit came with turn lights relocator which I used to swing the lights out and it also came with a rubber trim that goes around the perimeter of the glass (not sure if I want to use this, but with or without, it looks nice).
Can't wait to try this on the freeway. Quick question: will the 865 feel laboured at a continuous speed of 120km/h??
