On my 08 America there is no clearance problems at all. Have your turn signal lights been relocated?
I found it easier to put the mounting hardware on the bike, leaving all bolts loose, then fitting the screen. The top mounting bolts are kind of a chore to get lined up, I used a nut driver to get them started.
After doing it a couple of times it is a 15 min. job.
