My helmet if fully wired and ready to go. Mind you it isn't DOT approved, it is an HGU-55P aviators helmet, I figure if it can handle the 14 plus G's of an ejection at 400 knots and still keep my head in one piece.... It'll do for me.

I replaced the aviation wires from my flying days and installed a set of sony studio headphone speakers. Should have seen the look on my wife's face as I opened the brand new package and proceeded to completely dismantle the headphones down to the speakers and wires. Installing was a snap since I used the existing earcups. There is also a pre-drilled hole to run the cord through. The hole was a bit on the large side but once the installation was complete a quick trip to the hardware store for a plastic hole plug solved that problem. I just ground out a notch for the cord to run through without getting pinched. When I have a chance, I'll take some pics and post them. There's no reason that this mod wouldn't work on any other helmet.
