Who else is prepared for touring like this?

Trip prep for AMA vintage rally. I added 3 Hella/BMW style outlets.

Two at the handlebars, one under the seat at the motor mount. The Radar detector isn't mounted yet. All RAM mounts. RAM stuff is pretty solid but not very attractive in my opinion.

Also added the Running taillight kit.

120/90-18 front Shinko 230 Tour master, whch rubbed the fender a little clearance. I cut the bracket, but I didn't see any easy way to raise the fender.

So, what else do I need, and who else is going to Mid-Ohio

hmmm, cup holder.

I normally have nothing on the bike except the bags, and not usually the bags. I like to ride naked.

Actually my GPS is bluetooth compatable with my cell, plays MP3s, can store personalized routes, pictures (of my award winning bike and supportive g/f), has a trip meter and can calculate my MPG and $$ spent on gas. It can tell me how long I have been moving, standing still, avg speed and with the push of a button shows me coordinates of my location, closes police, hospital and gas station. Not to mention all the travel tools like language translation converter for currency and measurement.

DAMNG this thing does a lot of crap!

Clay...have you though of getting a mount for your camera? Seriously. Something like this.

I just got one and it worked out well except the camera I used wasnt a steady shot so my on road video was kinda rough.

Sounds like you have a 660. The Google map plug in sucks for mapsource. One waypoint at a time. No interchange of google maps. Just google POIs. the customization of routes is sweet when using mapsource proper. However, if the pois you enter are not positioned just so, you will find yourself being told to make ridiculous u-turns. also when saving the gdb file, even though you 'save as' the route is still labeled with the original name. pita that is. ya i can overide the auto name feature.

ramble over.

WOW, a cell phone on the handlebars. Just what everyone needs!!!! People can't drive cars with a cell phone and you have one on your bike???

Go Figure. Cell phones are for emergencies. Just clip it on your belt!! Get all that eye candy off the bars. JMO

I have to agree. I get on the bike to get away from things... not to have it staring me in the face.

As for GPS... that's what a map is for. That and I've found some great places when lost.

Actually the cell phone is my MP3 player, and my camera.

It's only eye candy if you want someone to see it. I don't give a rats A$$ if anyone sees it but me because I use it. I charge my phone and GPS on my bike. Is that okay?

I guess I like my life better than you do, I don't care if it stares me in the face. I get on my bike to ride. I like to ride, not get away from my life. It's a part OF my life.

I also wasn't trying to get lost, I was going somewhere. I didn't want to get lost, and needed to meet several rider friends, several hundred miles away, in the rain, and at a certain time. Maps don't tell you where you are, only how to get were you want to be. Which is great if you know where you are. I also carry maps, because I like maps. I also like gagdets, and I have 5 GPSrx.

Now if i had a Zumo, I could drop the phone on the bars because it does everything but Radar.

Clay

I don't think I have ever been lost without a gps, have been a mite confused about my location for a day or two a few times. Those was some of the best times I ever had on a bike. No gps for me, I would hate to miss more times like that. Don't carry my cell phone much anymore since they built gps in them. Don't care where I at most of the time, so I don't think it any business of the cell phone company, or the government. Too d..n old fashion I guess

Hey Tim, most cell phones have the option to turn the GPS off if you don't want "the man" tracking you.

Always remember to be yourself. Unless you suck. Then pretend to be someone else.

Easier to toss it aside and leave it, don't answer it half the time anyway

Have to agree with ezrider, GinaS and others. Why would you want all that stuff with you. Too much distraction. I like my life, motorcycling is a major part of it, but cell phones, GPS, etc.., aren't a part of it. They are accessories, that I can live without when I'm riding.

Cage drivers distracted by these items are complained about enough by bikers, I don't want to be the 'distracted biker' that someone else complains about sometime down the road.

That said, to each his own. That's what makes life what it is.

On the grounds you don't actually know me, I've let this comment go. Till I've calmed down... a lot.

I get on my bike to ride too. I've had the 09 not even 5 weeks and done 1400 miles. And been to work 5 or 6 days a week too. I went away last weekend without the bike, and was worried that it wouldn't be there when I got back (but then the 06 was stolen...from the place I had left the 09 last weekend).

I just find time with out my mobiles ruling my life ( i have my phone and a work phone) VERY liberating. It was great at the Dent weekend not to have to worry.

As someone who owns 4 bikes.... and is a gadget freak.... and the daughter of 2 riders... yes even my mother rides, don't judge me.

Wow, how often does a thread in Accessories get close to being locked? Settle down, kiddies. There's nothing wrong with riding with every gadget known to humanity and there's nothing wrong with riding without so much as a clock. Let's try to be a little more tolerant.

Ah, I was just ranting about the weather when God came along and told me to use my rant to help end world starvation instead.

Meanwhile, here's a vid that shows you how to text while riding.
