Anyone have pics of the tank pads on the 09? I'd like to see how they look with the new tank before making a decision.

Jim (frozenbike) put some on his bike recently, but even though he was hounded in this thread to post pics he... well, he didn't. Maybe if YOU bug him he will cough up an image or two.

Yeah, I posted there asking for pics. I considered sending a PM but I'm not sure he comes here much any more. I was hoping someone else had some we could see.

Well it's the best I could do but I went to the 'Create My Triumph' at the Triumph m/c site, then got into the Triumph Configurator (is there really such a word?) and added tank pads to an 09 America.

This is the screen shot. Maybe it will help.

Mr. Ed... seeing your bike again is a real pleasure, and the pads look super good too.

Nice Bike Reef Rider. You have some of the same mods I would like to make to my speedie some day. The pads look ok on the black tank. I have the black speedie. I would like to have had the black and white but that's another story. Do you like your crash bars?

ha. I guess my first clue should have been when he said "not my bike". See what happens? You guys put pictures on the page and I just quit reading.

It's the same tank, why would it look any less silly? I think they're ok on the old tanks, on the new ones it looks out of place, like someone just stuck something on there for the helluvit.

Sorry, Jim, but it's hard not to cheat when they dangle the bait

My old Triumph had them and I went awhile without on my 05 America. But, after adding them, I liked it better than without. They look like they belong on the older tanks or could have been stock. I think the new tank looks better without. Sorta like the difference in a pimple and a dimple.

Sweet, I like that. You have a few more color pics I could see? I see a few things there I never thought of.

I think they look fine on the new style tanks. I think they help make it look more like the old style tank, which I guess, is exactly the consumers they are aimed at.

I wouldn't give up on that idea yet. Maybe inset into the rubber ones, or a rubber edging of some sort?

yeah erle
i was thinking of getting triumph pads and then inlaying the diamond plate in there somehow. The main problem i was having was that theres a slight compound curve on the tank. Theres the main inverted curve headlight to taillight, and then an outer curve bowing gas cap to engine.

But now that you mention rubber edging, i wonder if that fender edging for cars, that guys use to line the underside of the tank would work?
