I think the symbolism has gotten a little out of context here for what the cross symbolizes. I think you see many monuments as well as Arlington cemetary using a white cross to mark burial sites. Not every person buried there was a christian, and I don't think the white crosses symbolize that they where. I think it is merely a symbol used for memorial of those who have died veterans or active duty. Just because it's a christian symbol too doesn't mean they are linked together. It's just another symbol like the purple heart, the general's stars, or the memorial cross. As a military symbol, it has no religious symbolism.
