I had to make another battery bracket because the home depot steel brackets I used started to crack recently. The brackets they sell have holes pre-drilled into them which gave a weak spot...

Its been around 10,000 miles on chopped springs so they were getting a lot of abuse. (This pic has about 5000 miles on it, so you can see not much road grime builds up. You can also see that since the brackets failed my tire was rubbing at the bottom on large bumps)

So I decided to make a new one from 1 piece of steel. I started with a piece of 1/8" thick steel 6.5" wide X 7" tall.

Then bend at the 2" mark from the top, at 140 degrees.

Then drill holes as follows...

Let it be known that I started with 7" tall so I'd have a little extra just in case. I mounted the plate on the bike to see what height I wanted the battery to sit and ended up taking 3/4" off the bottom, which gives just enough room under the seat for the wiring.

Heres it painted..
