Willy, I'm just using common sense to try to eliminate obsticles to a clean flow of air. If air comes in through the single snorkle, then has to flow through the two snorkles I can only imagine how convoluted the path must be. And by removing the two snorkles you have two holes to allow air into your carburators. But if you cut away that wall you allow much more air to enter your carbs, and it still has to go through your air cleaner, so you've increased the air flow but still have filtered air.
