Back in my yute when I had my first Triumph, I saw a couple of guys on shiny new Zundaps playing hare and hound at the Whittier oil field. The one in front had the idea that sharp turns in the dirt were done by clamping the inside foot down hard and lifting the bike around. Of course, he dumped it and his buddy ran over the rear wheel, taking out maybe 4 spokes and then dumped his bike. First guy got angry over the damage and kicked some spokes out of the other guy's front wheel. Then they remembered they had ridden to the oil field and now had to walk home.
Speaking of Zundap, a friend had one of the small ones with a top speed around 25 - 30 mph. He had to go on a cross country trip on it once and noticed that cows in fields along the road would run along with him, probably something to do with the noise his bike made. He thought it was really funny until he came across a bull standing out in the road and remembered that they can run 35 - 40 mph. It nearly caught him before it got tired and gave up.
At the whittier oil field, there was a ridge with several hill climbs on it. You had to make a quick left turn at the top because it was nearly straight down the other side and a left would get you a nice easy descent. One day, I nearly lost it because there was a new 650 BSA in a cactus patch at the top. It was there for 2 or 3 weeks before anyone hacked their way in to get it out.
