The pain and the Percocet won't let me type very much right now. I finally bit the dust on Saturday morning July 4th on the way to Deals gap with my son riding pillion. My son is fine except for a wee bit of road rash on his arms. I managed to get 2 spiral fractures to my lower right leg, a chipped c3 vertebrae and a host of contusions and abrasions.
Beware of the yellow lines, especially when they're still wet with morning dew. I tested out a guardrail at about 25 mph. I got to take a helicopter ride to Knoxville and spent 4 days in UTMC. I haven't seen my bike yet so i'm not sure how it fared. I hope to go pick it up from Robbinsville next weekend.

Wow! That's gotta hurt in a lot of ways. I'm glad to hear your son is OK, and I wish you both a speedy recovery! It's amazing how slippery those street markings are, even when dry. Hope the bike is just minor scrapes and contusions also!

Dang, that sux.. but the important part is that you made it out OK. Hope you get healed up enough to ride again real soon. Speaking as someone who has gone over the handlebars at 60Mph, it will get better, eventually  Cheers, Brad

Sure glad your boy is OK. Nothing worse than to hurt a passenger, especially your own kin. So, you tested out a guard rail. Maybe the state can reimburse you for that testing, call it a "consulting fee". And how DID that guard rail perform? If I ride down there I'm gonna wanna know if they are adequete or not! (just teasing you, hope ya get better soon!)

Dang Rob,that sucks! Heal up quick! Glad your boy wasn't seriously hurt. Hope your bike is salvageable.

Dang Rob , glad to here everyone made it. Guardrails can mame one that's for sure.
We had five motorcycle deaths in the region two weekends ago.
Hopefully the folks here in Knoxville at UT took good care of you.
Here's hoping you heal quickly.

I glad to hear that both you and your son will be fine. I've been there and done that.I hope that your bike will be fine as well. I ride year round here in WA. and the it is important to rember that all that pretty paint on the road like cross walks, lane markers etc. are extremly slippery and should be avoided when even damp. Again I wish a speedy recovery to you and your son.

Glad to see you and your son will mend. It sucks about the bike but at the end of the day it can be replaced (I hate to say that but it is true). Get well soon.

Will you guys PLEASE STOP crashin' your bikes!!! This is startin' to scare my dog!!!  He hasn't learned how to open his can of dog food yet, and whenever he hears this kind'a stuff, he starts to REALLY WORRY about me every time I leave home on my motorcycle!!!!  (oh, BTW...get well soon, Rob!)

Sorry about your misfortune. How old is your son that wiped out?
Not to dismiss your injury but I tend to be more sensitive to kids
getting hurt since becoming a father myself nearly eight years ago.

He's twelve. He said he isn't afraid to go riding again. He said he is afraid of those lines on the road, and rightly so!
BTW, for those who've had similar experiences, on what day does the pain start to decrease rather than get friggin worse?

After I pushed the school bus out of my way with the motorcycle I quit hurting as much around the 8th day.
