Hi All.
I know there are a 1000 different post if not more on the subject of exhaust. But what I am looking for is this, I live in Los Angeles. I bought my America about a week ago here in LA. The dealer recommends BUB exhaust.
1) I am looking for a good exhaust that can be purchased in LA? 2) A good dealer to put it on? 3) I keep hearing about thunderpipes but cannot find any place of purchasing. 4) I want LOUD pipes, but not ticket loud 5) What are the loudest best performing pipes I can buy from a dealer in SO CAL?
Any help would be great Thanks In Advance

Welcome madman.
You can install the pipes yourself. Takes all of 20 minutes.
Look at your rear peg hangers. The bottom bolt is also the pipe hanger bolt. Look at where the pipe mates to the headers and you will see a clamp with one bolt.
Removing the above items frees the pipes for maintenance or swapping

The Bub's are very nice pipes.... They were one of first after-market companies to offer pipes for our bikes back in '03. Very easy installation like bonnyusa says.

Not mentioned much on this site are the Specialty Spares pipes. I love my long slash cuts. They look similar to stock but have a really nice, loud, throaty sound. When I got them, I did get to compare with the Triumph Off Roads and the SS pipes were louder and sounded much better. They are not too loud. I actually thought they were at first (factory conditioning), but now think they're perfect. They mount on the factory mounts and come with carb re-jet kit for the TAs and BAs.

The Triumph dealer in Saugus has a franchise to sell Epco Stainless pipes. I got mine there in less than a week, and it was the first pair they sold.
The Epcos have a nice snappy "real Triumph" sound, loud enough to set off a few car alarms. I haven't been stopped in the 2 years + that I've had them, so I guess they aren't too loud. Another nice thing, being made of stainless steel, they require a lot less maintenance.

Hey GreyBeard, Saugas is no longer an authorized Triumph dealer. Roy will wrenches on them, for a fee. No warranty work, not even sure if they have bikes on the floor. They told me they were sending most of the parts inventory back.... Sad but true. On a good note. Simi Valley has been great to deal with.
As for the original question as hand. My experience is most dealers will be happy to sell you the TOR pipes. I had a set for a year and liked them, until I put on the D&D's. What a difference. I'm told only one pipe is louder (Scepters). Was riding downtown today and an oldtimer (early 70's) stopped and said "I hear you coming, bike sounds great. What year is it..... I use to race a Triumph years ago". Anyway the pipes are very easy to put on the bike. 20 minutes of easy labor with basic hand tools. But the pipes direct and do the work yourself. You'll be much happier. Now if you're re-jetting and feel that's outside your ability then have a good shop do the work.

GreyBeard and Bigsteve,
I live in saugus, I spoke to the dealership out here and they said they can still get parts and do the work but not warranty work. Also went to cycle gear off lyons ave they will sell me the BUBS for $419 with no jets.
I didnt check on other pipe prices because I dont know all of my choices. I could only find 2 Sound bites for pipes the BUBS and SCEPTRES. I like the features of some of the other pipes but I dont wanna buy something I cant hear prior to buying.
Also I can easily do the work myself but I have a warranty worry going on there.
I would have SIMI VALLEY do it but I dont trust them after I talked to them before buying my bike. They had a bike on add then dropped the price of the bike in the the next week yet the final price of the bike didnt change

Funny you guys should mention that dealer in Saugus. When i bought my speedy i figured i could go there to have it serviced if needed because all the other ones are 2-3 times further away. Then i buy the bike and soon after i see they lost thier dealership. But i'm glad to hear they will still wrench on em. I actually saw my first cruiser there but the price was too high to consider. wasn't sure i'd be buying anyway, but that visit was what got the new triumphs into my blood and led to my final visit to another dealer where i whipped out the checkbook and went for it. It figures tho.....thats 2 triumph dealers near me to bite the dust. The first being.....get this.....1/2 mile from my apt !!! They dropped thier dealership long before i got my bike tho......when the factory burning in 2000 i believe. But ******.....had the factory never burned they may still be selling triumphs and i might be able to get parts and service within walking distance from home ! ASRRRRG.......now i have to drive an hour.

Hey Madman, The Epcos and the Scepters are louder than the others, but if you keep the baffles in it wont be as bad as taking them out and going deaf....believe me when I tell you this. My ears are still ringing from the last ride I went on....(EPCOS-Baffles removed).....Angelis

I'm off Monday. If you live anywhere near the west end of the valley, I can let you hear my Epcos.

Greybeard,
I may take ya up on that, only thing is, I have to meet my accountant at 10 a.m. depending on how painful that meeting is(corporate taxes) I would love to hear the pipes. My meeting is off lyons ave. in newhall.

I too love my Specialty Spares Long Cannons. The removable baffles make tweaking the sound easy. I removed about 30% of the packing to make mine a little louder. Fit and finish is first rate and the supplied jet kit was spot on. There are some sound bytes at: Specialty Spares Sound/Video clips Note: the Specialty Spares website is down, contact via email at: nortonbsa@att.net
