I've mentioned the marching drum band I was in. We did gigs of all kinds, from village fetes to festivals and stuff for telly. The band even played at the new Wembley before most footy teams, although I didn't play personally. Any gig was good but the best were those where the crowd were up for it. The youtube video I linked to in another post was a Saturday midnight in Liverpool city centre. People mention 'zones' all the time but it's only when you get in one you realise what is meant by the term. You encounter them when out riding sometime; when you get a series of corners right, or when just riding along, enjoying being on 2 wheels. I may be about to commit blasphemy here but I never got anywhere close on a bike (or anything else, for that matter) than that gig. I'd be in the zone, concentrating on the rhythm and then snap out for a short time to observe the crowd, who were going nuts. The euphoria I felt was something I'll never forget and something I can't describe with mere words.

I also play bass guitar with a locally-run 'project' but it's only roots 'n' 5ths-I'm not too good!!
