I have a loose timing chain cover bolt, that became loose after I screwed the bolt too tight and broke the seal ( that's what I assume is inside, kind of like a drain plug ).

What's the best way to fix this? Tap same thread, re-thread bigger, an helicoil?

Thanks for any help.

Ummm... Are you referring to the cam cover?

The left side cover, where the clutch cable bracket is.

And all this time i've been calling that the clutch cover:p
You can use a heli coil kit to fix it, but you'll likely have to pull the cover off first. I believe they're 6mm x 1.0

If it is just one bolt loose, you may not need to fix it, unless it is one of the two holding the clutch cable bracket. Try some locktite (not the permanent kind) or gasket maker (again not permantent type). There are plenty of other bolts to keep the cover tight.

I stripped one out where the cable bracket goes. I bought a longer bolt to catch a thread or two and just snugged it.
