 Sealed beam?

I bought a replacement headlight the other day, and when I went to put it in, I found that there was a sealed beam headlight/lens assembly in there. This isn't a stock thing, is it? When I look at the assembly on BikeBandit it looks like there are separate parts.

No it should have come stock with a shell with replaceable bulbs. Did you buy your bike new or did you purchase it used? Hope this helps.

My '05 came with a sealed beam from the factory. Has an extra connection on the side for the parking light feature.
Just as pathetic as the other stock headlights; low beam is useless. I replaced it with a Sylvania.

Just took out the factory sealed beam and replaced it with the Sylvania Silverstar. Direct swap out, same plug and everything. Only thing I lost was the front parking light feature (where you turn the key past start position and you get a feeble light from the headlight, and the tail light is illuminated).
The parking light connector is laying loose in the headlight bucket, I may use it when I convert signals to running lights, as I understand that wire is hot all the time. I'll also have parking lights back again, but from the front signals instead of headlight. May go with LED signals so as not to drain battery, haven't thought it through yet.

Mine doesn't seem to have a reflector plate or anywhere to actually mount the bulb. If I plugged it into the socket that the sealed beam is plugged into, it would just hang loose in the bucket.

You'll be much more happier.
Or, contact whoever you bought the bike from and see if they have the parts you're missing.

A sealed beam is a complete 7" round headlight globe, lens, reflector, internal filament, all sealed up, 1 piece. Commonly used on older cars. You are looking for a 7" diameter headlight for a 2 headlight system (not a 4 headlight system). From the Tech Vault Scroll down about halfway. Edit: Trying to understand your post. The chrome bezel is removed and installed on the new globe. 1. Remove 2 phillips screws in headlight bezel 2. Unplug light 3. Pry end of wire-looking retaining spring out from under chrome rim, one by one pry out at remaining points 4. Light will fall out, put new one in noting where TOP is marked

Lonzo - I don't especially want the sealed beam. Your post made it sound like you replaced just the bulb and not the whole package. I didn't know if you had the reflector piece lying around or something.

I first went with the Sylvania sealed beam, much better than stock. After a year or so, bought one of these with the 90/100 watt bulb.

Sorry to rain on anyone's parade but I've also bought one on those headlight inserts and to be perfectly honest, it went into the bin.
It was absolute junk from India where the inside reflector was this tinny arrangement sort of held in place but moved arround anyway.
Nope, I wouldn't waste my money on it.
I then bought a Narva insert which is similar to the Lucas and believe me it is quality both in it's construction and function.
In fact only last week, I was coming back from a trip and had to use it along the Pacific Highway in Aus. Well it was brilliant and for the money, most definitely worth it.
That's my two bobs worth
Staintune Pipes, K&N Pods, 45 pilots, TBS needles and 145 mains.

I was dissappointed with the quality as well, but my first one lasted 2 years before the metal thing fell loose, just bought a second one. I like the light pattern better than the sealed beam. At $14, another example of "you get what you pay for". You have a link for the Narva?
