That's a good description; it's not the kill circuit. I'm guessing ignitor failure is in your future but did the tech actually check the sensor gap under the alternator cover? If that's set properly, theres a heat sensitive issue with the sensor that is gender wide in the Triumph line affecting retro bikes and triples alike.
