i was riding home last nite at about 1am through a suburban plat and got close lined off my bike by some punk who wrapped shrink wrap from one tree to another across th road!being that shrink wrap is clear and it was dark i didn't see until it was to late.luckily i walked away with some scrapes on my arm and the bike just got scraped on the grip, footpeg, and tip of the exhaust.i can't believe someone would do that.if i hadn't been only doing 25mph i probably wouldn't have been seriously injured or killed!i hope those punks get whats coming to them!

I'm glad you are okay.
I hope you reported it to the cops. I would be canvassing the neighborhood to see if I could find who did it. Stuff like that makes me so angry.

Holy crap! That's ridiculous! Glad you weren't seriously hurt and the bike not too messed up. I would try to find the punks who did it and make sure they had a broken bone or two.

+1 on getting a police report. That way if the punk(s) get caught doing it again, you'll have some recourse.

This kind of crap drives me nuts. Makes you feel kinda violated...

Wow man, that really sucks. I would have to get revenge somehow. I know it will be difficult to find the culprit, but be patient. They will surface sooner or later, posting a video of it on youtube or something. Then you can find them and cause them a tremendous amount of bodily harm.

That's just UNBELIEVABLE! Okay, first of all good to hear you are okay. What? I'm still reeling at the thought of it. Who was this prank targeted at? You? Not a car I wouldn't think. It sounds like it was set up to f*#k up a biker or cyclist. Doesn't it? Make to knock someone off their ride, not just to snap over someone's windshield.

Oh man I hope you find out who did this. This is INSANE!!

DUDE!!! I thought you said you came out of this reasonably well, all things considered!!! You didn't say ANYTHING about those friggin' punks makin' one of your eyes pop out of its socket!!!

(sorry...just thought I'd lighten the mood here a little, that's all...yep, I hope they catch the little idiots who did this too!)

Glad to hear you're OK and the bike didn't come out of it too badly.
We have a 'motoring jounalist' over here that does a TV show and writes for a few newspapers and magazines, he hates bikers. He wrote an article for a national paper that said "Jeremy Clarkson caused outrage by suggesting in his newspaper column that the number of motorcyclists should be cut by stretching cheesewire across the road". Some idiots over here took him at his word.

it wasn't directly targeted at me,being as that road is one i rarely take home, but it does seem like it was targeted at a biker or cyclist.at that time of night i'd say a car travels down that road once every 15-20 minutes so they were probably close by.wednesdays here in dayton, ohio ther is fairly large bike night in town,so i do wonder if they were targeting someone on a motorcycle.being that i was ok i was mainly concerned about getting my bike home to check for damage.luckily i just bought iso-grips and pegs and i didn't put them on yesterday because it was to hot in my garage,so what little damage will shortly be remedied

after talking to my buddy,i do feel lucky that they didn't stretch 100lb test fishing line across the road or something else along those lines.being motorcyclistsis there are already enough things we have to watch for,but this is absolutely ridiculous!

Man you're lucky. That could have been something serious. I've heard of people stretching barbed wire accross roadways before. That high tensile stuff can make a real mess of a car, much less of a biker. Be safe out there guys.

Stupid kids having what they consider a good time.. unfortunately, most are too young or naive to think about what their actions may cause. If it's a fairly small community you were riding through, you might get lucky and find out who it was.. news travels fast in small towns and everyone knows what everyone else is doing. I do hope so, as they do need to be taught a lesson.

I remember in my youth, my buddies and I hanging eggs from trees overhanging the road, just about windshield height, using fishing line. We would do it at night, and hide in the bushes across the street to watch the cars hit them, pull over, look around cussing, and then driving off. Until one time a metro cop came driving down the road and nailed it. Within what seemed like 30 seconds, there were 4 or 5 police cruisers searching the area.. and needless to say, they found us (the eggs in our pockets may have provided some additional evidence as to our guilt)! Scared the living c**p out of us.. we were like 12 or 13 years old and the cops were giving us the 'lifetime in jail' routine. It did work though.. we learned our lesson, saw the error in our ways, realized what _could_ have happened, and never ever though about doing something like that again.

I guess it's all part of growing up unfortunately.

Cheers,
Brad

Maybe a couple inches more than that.

Glad you're relatively okay, and I hope these little punks get caught soon.

There was an story a few years ago(think it was reposted here too) about a similar "prank" that seriously injured a rider and passenger, and IIRC, the "pranksters" got charged with attempted murder.

glad to hear your basically ok and hope they catch the little basturds!

When I was a kid we had a guy killed in a similar manner. This wasn't a booby trap or done on purpose or anything like that. But a wire had been strung across the entrance to a field to keep cattle in and it isn't normally there. A guy on a snowmobile got closelined by it and you can guess the rest. The snomobile was trespassing and ruining crops too, they kill winter wheat.

Shrinkwrap should leave some viable fingerprints , if the cops have the wherewithall to dust it .

One thing about kids they can't keep a secret. Offer a $500 reward and watch how fast you get a name. Then make jr. pay the reward and the repairs for you not to press charges. Just a thought
Most importantly, thank God you're OK.

Sad to say, but as kids, we ran a fishing line across the road to old man Roebuck's prized bean garden. Everything worked perfect...the first car that caught the line stripped every bean pole..Unfortunately, the car belonged to the county police! We got away, but barely....
