jc whitney pipes. 155 mains 45 pilots. k/n pods. I put new plugs in it and ran it for about 15 minutes. I took the plugs out and the center electrode, insulator, and ground strap are white. I'm assuming this means it is running a bit lean. i have the air mixture screw set at 2 1/4 turns out. Any guess at where i should start with that screw?

probably not enough time to show a good indication of anything one way or the other.

When you say you "ran" it?? did you ride the bike or just left it sitting there ticking over?

If the latter then you really need to take her out for a 30 minute ride, even an hour... get it fully hot and then when you get back take them out. (they will be hot so you may want to wait).

maybe i'll try that. it idle'd for about 10 minutes and then i took it around the block. But i did romp on it a few times. I might have to go for a spin later. I just don't want it to be to lean a screw somthing up.

and dont forget these are a 4 stage carbie so the reading your getting at idle might not be revelant to what your getting when riding its all about throttle position Brian

You wont screw it up.. not unless your screaming the engine to death on a real lean mix and even then you would have to be doing it for hours.. go for a ride, let it cool and then whip them plugs out, take a photo and post here and within minutes you will have a report from someone on your mixture settings

[image][/image] i went out for about an hour yesterday. the plug base has a copper color to it and the ground straps have a little white tip to them. the bike seems to run great. I've noticed more power since I took out the stock air box and added the pods. I had the air mixture screws at 2 1/8 and turned them in to 1 1/2 out. When I let off the throttle it "crackles and pops" as i'm slowing down. I really like the sound and it made this sound with the stock air box. I think everything is running as it should.

well Im no expert and that plug is out of focus but... I would hazzard a guess and say its too lean, 2 1/2 turns out would seem better..

Like I say... Im no expert and make from this what you want
