Weird thing happend today. I was cruising nice and easy on my way home. It starts to rain. And suddenly the engine dies slowly, just like it was out of gas but the tank was half full so that could not be the case. Anyway I switched over to the reserv and the engine fire up again and I went home without any further problems. Back home I drained the carbs and checked the small in line filter - no problem. I drained the fuel tank and removed it when I heard som strange sound from inside the tank! Like something made out of metal was loose in the tank. I disconnected the fuel valve and started to shake the tank and finaly I managed to get hold of and pull out a - believ it or not - a fishing hook! Somebody has a strange sense of humor that is for sure! Somebody must have opened the tank and dropped it in or they could have put it in the pipe of the gas handle at the gas station. I filled her up the other day. So the lesson is I suppose check the equipment at the gas station before you put the handle in the tank and consider a tank cap with a lock. Anyone else been fishing in their gas tanks lately? Hasse

Something fishy going on there, but a least you're off the hook!

I'm amazed that you were able to get that out! Curious how it got in there though. If it was in the pump nozzle, score one for creativity, but still a crappy thing to do.
Glad you got it out!

Probably dropped right in your tank. If in the pump nozzle, it most likely would have ended up in a car or truck tank. If its a local prankster, maybe a neighbor kid, you need a locking cap. Next time may be a piece of candy, or something else that would do real damage.

But on the up side, that lure looks like a Garcia knockoff of a Mepps spinner, which is deadly on rainbow trout. Now you can scoot to a nearby pond/stream and try your luck with a first class fishgetter. Lucky Duck.

That's a shame, but imagine if that got into your cage's tank. It would have been a lot harder to diagnose!

Does your bike have fins? Sounds like someone had a nice catch, but the hook was swallowed, and the line broke.

I doubt a fish will get within 50 feet of that lure after its been dipped in the fuel tank

A fuel-dipped Mepps could prove irresistible to a Shell-fish.
