The end weights have holes in already. The wires go through them, and drill a small hole in the bars where the controls are so they are completely hidden, then splice them into the existing cables. This way they are totally hidden from view. The PITA bit is fishing the wires through the holes you've drilled. I did it with a loop of fishing line through the hole, then feeding the wires down the bars and hooking them with the line. Fiddly but do-able.
