I have been looking at The Moto Guzzi V7 Classic a whole lot lately. It might be fun as a second bike, has anyone here ridden one, or know an owner of one? What do you folks think of it?

I think they need to come out with the V11 Classic.

Like the Guzzis a lot but always wondered about the cost of the up keep.

Our local dealer had a dealer-rep sitting on the floor for around $10k (last Fall). I sat on it and the pegs are very high up. I'm not that tall, but it was uncomfortable (and not adjustable). Sure enough, every magazine article (try Cycle World, Motorcyclist) complained about the high, cramped peg mounts.

That's what I noticed with all the Guzzis I've sat on as well -- insufficient leg/foot room. It's unavoidable with the jugs being where they are: right where your feet should be.

I think the Guzzis would make good sportbike setups with rearsets, but I can only guess it's impossible to put forward-mounted pegs on there, and the "standard" position is still sort've cramped, especially with the lower seat heights.

Well Al, then that case, why couldn't ya just bolt some forward controls on that puppy and then THEN your legs wouldn't be so cramped???

(oh yeah...sorry, never mind....there's that "little matter" of those two cylinder heads stickin' out there like they do and "kind'a" bein' in the way for that to happen, huh?!)

Actually, I've always kind'a liked the "idea" of owning a Guzzi, but the few times I've ridden 'em(an older early '80s LeMans and a newer V11), I come away a little less than enthusiastic about the idea. Those babies DO look good and have a lot of "character" alright, however they vibrate a little too much for my tastes and overall seem just a bit too "crude", for want of a better term.

Oh, I think if they'd shave some of those useless fins off that thing you could get your feet forward a bit.

Well Troy, IF you did THAT, you'd THEN have to put a radiator on it, ya know!

And THEN, ya know what you'd HAVE?

Why, an old Honda CX500, dude!!! Which BTW I had back in the day, 1978-80 to be exact, and which I have to say was actually a pretty good little bike.

(....and which no, I still couldn't stretch my legs forward past those cylinders on that bike either!)
