I'm installing led signals for the iso grip ends. I already have led's in the rear. I bought a led flasher from Harrison specialties however when i plug it in, nothing lights up. When i use the stock flasher, it just makes a buzzing noise and the lights stay lit w/out flashing. Am I looking for a load equalizer, maybe another flasher, relay? I just want them to work correctly.

Where did you make the connection for the LED ends? Did it work before you added the LED ends? Are you still running stock fronts and splicing into the LED ends?

I cut off the stock plug for the fronts and connected them that way. Last year i added the the rear led's and had stock fronts. they did flash however they flashed fast. As if it was telling me there was a light out.

LED's are polarity sensitive...are you sure you have the positive to the positive?...not that I want to offend...b ut it's easy to over look...

ya, otherwise the led's won't even turn on. On any other system, it ususally doesn't matter if the postive was on the right side or not as long as it was grounded. There has to be someone who has a whole led system that works. I'm thinkin it is something simple but i don't want to but all the wrong parts before I find the right one.

I tied mine in to the existing wiring for the turn signals in parallel and also tied in to a power source for the run lights. Grounded to the handlebars. Been running this way for over a year. I don't have any other LEDs on the bike though. Just using the existing bulbs.

Because they are tied in parallel with the standard bulbs, they flash at the same rate.

i guess i'm confused. you used the existing wiring from the oem signals for the led signals. right? both left and right blink at the same rate, but are they faster than oem signals?

No they don't flash any faster, they flash at the same rate as the bulbs.

I dont think you do if you look at Greggers pictures you can see he still has BULBS in the system so his wil flash correct. I had led`s on mine for a while but needed load equalizers in it (mine are fitted under the seat stuck on the rear guard) As a trouble shooting suggestion get one of your old BULB indicators and hook it into either the right or left side and try it then, if it flashes it is a LOAD issue, if nothing changes then its a wiring issue. If it flashes fast then you will need equalizers.. let us know how you get on

thats what i want to hear. i have led's on the right side and 1 led and 1 bulb on the left. with the left side on, both left and right sides blink fast. with the right side on, the right side stays lit, doesn't blink. My main problem is that all the research i'm doing, product companies are say that relays will take care of this. But if they don't then load equalizers will. Which is it? I"m not looking to buy one of everything.

Get yourself and LED flasher from http://www.superbrightleds.com/tail-brake-turn.html then pull the turn signal indicator bulb from your dash. Should take care of it all. Soren

It turns out that the flasher I already purchased for this project was for L.E.D.'s however it was made it taiwan. Since the triumph is a british bike, some parts are backwards. For example the terminals on flashers. The + and - are reversed. Turns out alls that is needed is a led flasher, nothing more. Just be careful where its made. http://www.superbrightleds.com/flashers.htm

OK some basic info... as you've discovered not all flashers are the same, there's a bunch of pin assignments that exist, and there's even 2 and 4 pin flasher units. You have to get the right one for the vehicle it's going into. The pins should be numbered, make sure you have the same numbers on the same pin positions.
Standard flasher units will flash fast if you replace globes with LEDs, but will flash at the normal rate it you simply add LEDs but leave the globes in place. This is because LEDs use less current than globes so the standard flasher thinks you have a blown globe. You can use load equalisers but they're messy and inefficient. The correct solution is a dedicated LED flasher.
LEDs (as was pointed out) have polarity, positive and negative must be connected the wrong way or they won't work (and can possibly blow, however it's unlikely).
If you replace all your turn signal globes with LEDs you'll run into a problem with the turn signal globe in the console, as it's actually a connection between left and right. The easy fix is to simply remove the globe - the right fix is to add two small, cheap components (diodes) and a 3rd wire connected to a negative source (eg: the negative wire running to your tacho/clock).

So true - made mine work with led bulbs instead of filaments.

There's a method of getting the dash light to operate too - with a globe or an LED. Follow the link in my signature if you're interested.

Sandmann, I read your page. It all sounds good however i'm not an electronics guy. I don't know if i would have added led's if i knew i was going to have all this trouble. Is there anywhere i can buy one of these idiot lights for the flasher? is it true if i remove the light out of the dash it would work fine? I'd like to have the dash light to make it right? any advice?

I have all LED lights on mine and used the stock wiring and locations for the after market LEDs. They blink at a normal rate and I still have my dash indicator light. All I did was add a load resistor that I hid under my Lic. plate. They make them for HD and was ordered through a friend of mine from Drag Specialties or V Twin or one of those kind of suppliers. I even used the plug from the OEM light soldered to the LED light.

As I mentioned earlier, you can use load balancers. They work fine to fix your flash rate with a standard flasher, they're just not as efficient. There's pre-made LED idiot lights available commercially all over the internet too - my site's really only for those folk who like to do the electronics themselves. Brent from www.newspeedmaster.com supplies idiot lights that (I'm told) work fine with our bikes. Try them out - you only have a problem if turning left makes the right turn signals work too, or vice versa, in which case removing the console light's the easiest fix.

Anyone know if there is any LED bulbs to replace the "stock" turn signal & brake light bulbs on my 2005 America. I've looked on J&P Cycle and Dennis Kirk but no luck. They have replacement bulbs for 1157 & 1156 bulbs but I didn't see any to replace my stock bulbs. Dave

The turn signal lights are easy - you can use the ones on the site Soren mentioned but you'll run into a problem if you use them for the tail light. The stock bulb shines in all directions, so you get light out the back (through the red filter) as well as up onto the licence plate, however LEDs are directional, and those drop-in ones are designed to either shine parallel to the socket or at 90 degrees to it, not both. The easiest solution for the tail light is to use the drop in LED bulb replacements, and get yourself a licence plate frame with white LEDs in it for licence plate illumination, or something similar. I've even seen licence plate bolts with LED's for licence plate illumination (can't remember where now - google is your friend).
